Five Islands Amusement Park - The Review

Let me start off by saying that this is hands down value for money. I am gonna try to be quick with this blog because I want you to get the information real fast, pack your bags even faster and start driving towards Chaguaramas. (It's on your left hand side, just keep driving till you see it, you won't miss it trust me).

Now I get that $200 a person may be a stretch if you have a large family, but this is the closest thing you'd get to a Disney vacation if finances are strapped, so it may not be an every weekend thing but it can certainly be something to save towards and actually achieve the goal in your lifetime, because if your account looks like mine, Disney seems like a lifetime away. Keep in mind they are't done developing this park, so this is JUST THE BEGINNING.

There is a height chart that determines how much you pay. My daughter is a tall 7 year old. Like really tall. So she paid the maximum entrance fee of $200, but we were there from 11:30 am to 8:30 pm and she was still having a blast when I dragged her out of there.

If your child is really young, like say toddler, then I would recommend taking the food and arcade tokens package, which also cost the same $200, because they can't go on all the rides and the value for money becomes negated, which links to the advice people tell you when choosing to go to Disney when your kid's a little older.

The food is tasty and surprisingly inexpensive. A large pizza goes for $80. I had fries, chicken and a drink for $45 and it totally filled both Jess and I.

Gift certificates are available (hint hint). They are like cool little credit cards, which is also another handy feature with this park - The park is cashless, so you top up your wrist band upon entry and when you're leaving you can put any unused cash on your card for the next time.

My top tip is to be prepared. The last thing you want to do is reach there and you can't take advantage of everything because you are not appropriately dressed. For those with long hair, tie it up. Walk with a change of clothing because the surfing will get you drenched. Ditch the heels and be dressed for adventure. The surfing is also very powerful so I would recommend really secure clothing otherwise you will end up topless.

In closing, this isn't advice but it is a shout out to the 100% local team that created a real gem here. The theme is all local, which I appreciate. They did not try to re-create some silly Winter Wonderland, but they embraced our Caribbean Paradise. The contractors, the developers, the designers and the staff are all amazing and Trinbagonian. The service was top notched and they managed to do that while the rest of us think that Trinis don't understand good customer service. So kudos to the management, maybe you could set up training for other companies on customer service.

Oh, I forgot...the ice isn't real but the ice skating rink still gives a pretty close experience. In fact, I am patiently waiting on them to start ice skating lessons so we can be the first non-winter country to compete in the olympics.

I posted tons of pictures and videos on Facebook and Instagram and Jess has a few on her YouTube as well. So head on over to check those out as well.
