Avoid Saying "No" When Your Toddler Makes A Guess

I took my campers to a field trip recently and the host asked several questions on a topic that was obviously new to them, which meant the probability of them guessing incorrectly was high.
She kept enthusiastically telling them how wrong they were. Each time I cringed, because the only wrong person in the room was her.
What a wonderful way to crush the spirits of these eager toddlers. I guess what’s common knowledge for some isn’t so basic to others.
So here’s a tip courtesy #CARE…
When a child musters up the courage to make a guess (especially publicly), celebrate the effort, because a brave attempt is always deserving of praise. Rather than pointing out the guess is incorrect, try saying “great try, I’m so proud of you for trying,” then simply offer the correct answer.
Adults have a hard time being wrong and having it pointed out in public. Imagine a kid!!!
